Come and join in my upcoming 7-week series of West African drumming and get together with a group of fellow drummers!

The series will take place on Tuesday nights beginning September 9th and continue for 6 more evenings until October 28th. Please note that there will be NO CLASS on Tuesday, 9/23 !

As before I'll teach two different levels: the first class from 5:30 - 7:00 PM is geared toward Beginners and 'beyond' as well as Intermediate drummers (Level 1) and the second class from 7:30 - 9:00 PM is for Intermediate/Advanced (Level 2) students. In each group we will learn several complete rhythms from West Africa in "3-part drumming harmony" of bass drums, djembe accompaniment and solo phrases. As before there will be a recital after the seventh class for your family and friends to attend.
 

The cost for the series is $160.

Prior to the start of the series I will offer an evening Drum Circle Jam for all who want to shake the rust from their drumming chops and/or warm up to get ready for class. I will concentrate on build-a-rhythm exercises, soloing (on any level!) and enhancing your drum circle know-how and stamina. All levels welcome! The first 1/2 hour will be dedicated to learning how to tune a djembe!
This class will be on Thursday, September 4th from 6:00 - 9:00 PM and requires a separate registration. The cost is $40.

I'll have few Djembes available for rent if you don't have your own. The cost is $25 for the 7-week rental.

All classes are held at the Quaker Meeting House at 1837 Outer Forest Avenue (Route 302, just before Tortilla Flats Mexican restaurant). New students who aren't sure where that is will get directions when they sign up.
